In Lagos in Portugal, the fun continues after the sun goes down, there are plenty of restaurants, bars, discos and entertainment until the early hours of the morning.

At night Lagos is full of life, with the bars getting crowded at 11:30pm until 4:00am, if you want to keep going you have the discos until 6:00am and later! Some of the great bars are Three Monkeys, Joe’s Garage, Inside Out, Bon Vivant, etc… These are just off the top of my head, there are many others!

In Lagos Portugal going out is great because of the international crowd and the cheap prices in comparison to the rest of the Algarve. When you walk the streets you will find a young and laid back crowd, bar people pulling people to bars with free shots and free drinks, and people partying till sunrise. This is a great way to find new bars, because many of them are hard to find, because all the small streets look so alike at night! But don’t worry, if you are looking for a place to drink you will surely stumble upon one!

Many of the bars in Lagos have happy hour promotions, so go out early (before midnight), you can get 2 drinks for the price of 1 in many bars, my personal favorite is Inside Out!

Lagos is one of the places of the Algarve in Portugal where you will have the most fun at night and during the day. There is a hippie like atmosphere, people are always happy and half drunk, the beach is right beside the town and fun is everywhere. If you go out at night you don’t have to take a lot of money, drinks are cheap and there are beer bong competitions in many bars, with country rankings, so remember to drink a few beer bongs to get your home country in the top3!

These bars close at 4:00am, so if you want some more fun you can go to one of the discos that keep going until 6:00am!

If you are thinking about holidays in the Algarve you should consider Lagos in Portugal. Lagos in Portugal is a great destination for family holidays, surfing holidays or relaxing golfing holidays. The city is also a well known backpacker destination and has great hostels and a young and fun hippy surfer crowd.

If you come to Lagos you will have a lot of fun because there is an aura of fun and relaxation around the town. The town is filled with young people, most tourists are from Australia, Canada, United States and European countries.

The night scene is for all ages, and people are very social and happy, maybe because of the drinks being cheaper here in comparison to the rest of the Algarve and Portugal. In fact Lagos is a town where you can have a great holiday and not spend a lot, things here are cheaper than in the other tourism destinations in the Algarve and the South of Portugal.

Let’s talk a little bit about the history and general facts of Lagos in the Algarve. The city of Lagos is located in the Algarve in Portugal and it has thousands of years of history. Lagos was of great importance during the period of the great Portuguese maritime shippings of the century XV.

An historic character that lived in Lagos was the Infant Dom Henrique, known as Infant of Sagres or the Navigator who lived in Lagos, commanded many expeditions that lead to conquests to some cities in Morocco and to the discovery of the African coast.

Lagos in Portugal has a vast cultural and architectonic patrimony, with the most noteworthy being the Regimental Grocery store, the Castle of the Governors, the Cultural Centre, the Convent of the Nuns, the Stairways, the Fortress of Ponta da Bandeira, the monument of Homage to the Discoveries, the Churches of S. Antonio, S. Sebastião and Santa Maria, the Market of the Slaves, the Monument to the Portuguese Navigators, Museum of Lagos, Barracks, Carries of the City, Luis de Camoes square, Street of the Barroca, Street of the Zorra and much more! The statues of the Navigators Gil Eanes, Infant D. Henrique, and D. Sebastiao are also worth checking out!

If you enjoy culture and entertainment, Lagos in Portugal has a lot to offer, with the theatre, parties, popular music, concerts, coral groups, philharmonic bands, painting exhibitions and plastic arts, fairs, picture, sculpture, films, dances and contests. There is a lot of entertainment and fun for all the visitors especially during the summer, when most tourists are in Lagos.

Lagos in Portugal is known for its beautiful beaches with several of the most beautiful of the Algarve, beaches like Meia-Praia, Cabanas Velhas, Batata, Luz, Dona Ana, Porto de Mós, Burgau, Camilo, Canavial and Pinhão are beaches you want to visit if you come here.

If you are doing sailing holidays, you can take advantage of the marina in Lagos to dock you yacht, catamaran or boat.

The accommodation in Lagos is varied, you can stay at hotels, apartments, villas, youth hostels, boutique hotels and much more. Getting a cheap rental is easy in Lagos, if you book in advance. Local car rentals are also abundant and will get you the best deals if you are renting or hiring a car for more than a week.

Lagos has great weather all year long and is normally a few degrees cooler during the very hot summer days, if you want to be even more fresh you can take a trip to the east coast, were water is cooler and the temperature drops off a few degrees, normally between 3 to 5 degrees Celcius.

A fun and traditional activity for tourists is a tour to the caves in small fisherman boats, you can discover the insides of the caves guided by a Portuguese fisherman, or you can opt for a day on a sailing boat, where you can visit some deserted and unaccessible beaches and have a nice barbecue, some adventurous and unforgettable trips!

The municipal district of Lagos in Portugal is composed by the freguesias of Barão de São João, Bensafrim, Luz, Odiáxere, Santa Maria e São Sebastião, which are all worth visiting if you come on holidays here.
